Ericeria - the only World Surfing Reserve in Europe. You can either come to the Surf Camp, with a structured program and teamwork, or the Surf & Stay package for those who prefer a more relaxed individual regime. Living in a stylish villa with a large terrace overlooking the ocean and BBQ facilities, just a 5-minute walk from the observation cliff and the home beach with several surf spots. Great restaurants with seafood and delicious Portuguese wine, the historic center of an originally fishing village and more than 10 top surf spots on 8 km of coastline.
Location
Cooperation with Janka and Terezka from My Powderwave is no fault, you will feel at home here. Ericeira is located on the Portuguese Atlantic coast, 8 km long and offers some of the best surfing waves not only in Europe but worldwide. The long sandy beach of Foz do Lizandro, just a 7-minute walk from the surf house, is ideal for beginners and perfect waves that break on the reef (a rocky bottom) waiting for more advanced surfers on a number of other spots. The former fishing village is located 40 km north of Lisbon and has now become home to about 10 thousand inhabitants. Its typical and very photogenic white-blue houses, cobbled streets and hidden squares give the town a true oceanic atmosphere. During the day, the streets will turn into one big market place and in the evening the bars and clubs will come alive, from where you can go directly to the morning sunrise session. Everyone enjoys the lush climate, clean sandy beaches and fresh seafood. The old part of the city, which is made up of squashed fishing houses, can be found high above the sea on a 30-meter cliff. From Largo das Ribasyou can observe from a bird’s eye view swarming in a busy fishing port. Every year on 16th August there is an annual fishing celebration, where the procession with candles goes to the harbor at the foot of the cliff, where it will be blessed to all ships. On October 5, 1910, the last King of Portugal, Manuel II, exiled from Ericeira because he was declared a republic in Lisbon. This event is commemorated today by the image of the azulejo tiles in the Santo António fishing chapel above the port.

Yoga
Yoga is an inherent part of surfing, its stretching exercises help a lot before and after surfing and are part of every preparation before going into the water. During the day, you can surf, go yoga classes or just relax on the beach and watch the local chirp. The location is also suitable for families and groups of travelers.
Surfing
Surf lessons take place in English under the guidance of instructors from the first surf school in Ericeira – Na Onda. Your Czech surf guide will also be Janek Hrana, who will take care of you during your stay together with Tereza and female Lola. Janek lived in Australia for several years and last year in Ericeira. During the lessons he will shoot you and in the evening during video coaching will show your mistakes and progress. It will focus on the right technique and elimination of bad habits right from the start. Most often, the surf will be on the sandy beach of Foz da Lizandro, which is a 5-minute walk from the surfhouse and where also located surf school Na Onda with its surfshop and restaurant. Cold beers or port two after surfing the beach is a great reward .. More experienced can try other beaches, such as the first point break Ribeira d ‘Ilhas or the sandy beach of São Julião. Six kilometers to the north is the reef pearl of the Atlantic-Coxos, also known as the best clockwise wave in Europe. During the lessons there will be an average of 6 people per instructor.
Accommodation
The stylish MyPowderwave Villa is set on a hill overlooking the ocean. There are 2 double rooms, 1 twin bed, 1 quadruple and 1 six-bed dorm. A healthy breakfast awaits each morning, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the villa. You can surf not only in the waves… There is a fully equipped kitchen, BBQ area or sun terrace where you can watch the sunset with port wine in hand or practice yoga together with Janko and Tereza. Maybe add Lola!

Transportation
The best connection from the Czech Republic is with TAP Portugal or CSA directly from Prague. The flight takes 3.5 hours and the price is around 6000, – CZK. It always depends on the time of booking.
The cheapest connection is now with TRANSAVIA, direct flight from Munich to Lisbon and back for CZK 3800! You can find cheaper connections at www.kiwi.com, but always take longer time and more transfers.

The journey from the airport takes about 30 minutes thanks to the new motorway. If you are traveling alone, it is worth taking a bus that stops 5 minutes from the surfhouse and costs EUR 8.
BUS From the airport, take the red metro line to the city center and change to the green or yellow line to Campo Grande. From there, the Mafrense bus runs from stops 4 and 5. Tickets are purchased directly from the driver and seats cannot be booked in advance. The first bus leaves at 7:00 in the morning and the last at 22:00. Buses run at least once per hour and the ticket costs EUR 5.50. When selecting the line, select Expres, which takes 85min. Standard stops in every village and the journey takes 2 hours!
TAXI We can send a taxi to the airport, which charges 65EUR.
TRIPS AND ACTIVITIES
Sintra is one of the most visited places in Portugal. The main attraction is the well-known Palacio da Pena (Castelo da Pena) from the 19th century, which is the best preserved example of Romantic Portuguese architecture. Another highlit is Castelo dos Mouros, renovated in the 19th century. From the castle there is a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape of the Sintra-Cascais National Park. Another attraction is the summer residence of the King of Portugal, Palácio Nacional de Sintra, built at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries in the city. The nearby Sintra Mountain Range (Serra de Sintra) is one of the largest parks around Lisbon and is often sought after by tourists and locals for weekend trips and picnics.
The oldest architectural monument is the Moorish Castle Castelo dos Mourost built in the 8th century. In 1147 Sintra was conquered by Afons Henriques and most of the castle was destroyed. Only four towers, battlements and part of the Romanesque chapel have been preserved.
The most famous palace in Sintra, the Hieronymit Monastery of Nossa Senhora da Pena, was built in 1507 by Deog Boitac. The palace was reconstructed to its present form when it became the property of King Consort Dom Fernando II. The mansion was rebuilt in the Romantic style, and is today a popular attraction of Portugal.
Since 1995 Sintra has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

FAQ
Can I participate in the surfcamp if I go alone?
Certainly yes, you won’t be the only one, many participants go single and some even go double 🙂 We always connect you all before the trip, so you can travel together and there is a common program in place. We will put you in a room with other individuals or smaller groups, so you really don’t have to be afraid to go out alone.
I have never surfed, can I still participate?
All our surfcamps are designed for complete beginners as well as more advanced surfers. However, the vast majority are complete beginners like you, so don’t worry, you won’t be alone.
Who will I live with if I am not traveling in a larger group?
We always try to divide participants into boys’ and girls’ rooms, if you want your own room, you have to pay the difference for an unoccupied bed.
Is the surfcamp program mandatory and do I have to participate in everything?
The whole program is optional, so if you feel tired or just want to chill, let us know, put your feet up in a hammock or relax on the beach. You have a holiday:)
Do I have to pay the full amount after signing up?
After confirmation of the reservation, you pay a deposit of CZK 3,900 (170E), then the rest of money three weeks before the trip.
